"Didn’t actually stay in the Colibri (hummingbird) Hostal; opened at 9am and young guy handed me the phone to talk to Richard (the owner) who said we were actually staying in the Bayti 100m down the road. Bayti was lovely with an internal courtyard and Richard was good company and very helpful. Good breakfast (from 9am - Vicuña doesn’t start early!). Good location a few mins walk into centre. Vicuña is a nice small town with lots of bars/restaurants and a nice feel. Richard pointed us to Elki Magic, a small company who runs car, bicycle and other tours in the Elqui valley."

"Our room was duplex with the bedroom on the top floor which got very warm during the day (fan was provided but little ventilation); ok at night."

"Thanks for Mathias for doing the camp fire in the last day. By staying close to the fire (to keep warm) and starring at the camp fire light to enjoy the quietness to the place, it made one of my best memories during the stay. Very friendly host with good recommendation to the area. Based in the other side of Vicuña, which allow you to enjoy more of the mountain scenery. Site is fully equipped. Will stay again !"

"The location was great and the hostel lobby looked very pretty. The breakfeast was good and the hosts were very kind and helpful. Everything was clean too."

"The room walls are a little thin. We didn't sleep much because the german guests made a lot of noises and talked super loudly on the phone very early in the morning. This however is not the fault of the hostel. I had little encounter with araña del rincon on the bathroom and also some ants. I guess the bathroom needs little poisoning. Also the first evening we didn't have hot water but the staff helped us out and the problem was solved."
